Ben is not only my coach, he's my inspiration. It was important for me to know what receiving coaching from a masterful coach would feel like. Being Ben's client provides just that--a live and profound opportunity, and an inspiring reminder that "aahhh, THIS is why coaching is so great! THIS is what I'm working towards!" - Gilly W.

I coach coaches in certification training:

Let's face it. This is big stuff. For the next 6 months you'll be super focusing your attention on each and every skill and principle your learned in your core training and examining themwith a giant coaching microscope.
Between your five or more clients and your podmates, you'll be coaching a lot (and be coached), sometimes with valuable feedback, sometimes not.
And your coaching will be evaluated and critiqued by certified supervisors... all in the service of you becoming a more powerful, skilled and confident coach.
And yet, it all can be quite overwhelming.

But do not despair, there are great resources of help and support that you can easily tap into. There are coaching communities, online and where you live, there are message boards, and there areexperienced coaches who specialize in helping newer coaches in their training and development. We know what it's like--what fears and concerns pop up--and better yet, we know how to deal with it.

So now that you're here, you might want to consider hiring me as your coach.

why should you hire a coach?

A) Well, you have to. If you're training with CTI, It's part of the requirements. But even if it weren't, it's still a great idea.

2) You''ll have someone who's been through what you are experiencing to help work you through not only the challenges in your life, but with the conflicts, frustration and fears that naturally arise with such a challenging program. No matter how hard it gets, you will always have an ally to support you.

III) It's a great way to explore and expand your own coaching. It's inevitable, while being coached, that you'll begin to absorb key phrases, you'll start to hear coaching skills differently, and you'll most likely even learn additional skills and styles not part of your training that can help form and distinguish your own personal coaching style (or what I like to call, your "Coachiness.")
The CTI Certification program is designed to help you intimately and deeply know the co-active coaching model. Working with your coach helps you explore how you can best incorporate these skills and make them truly your own. And this is what will eventually distinguish you from all the other coaches out there. The YOU factor.

why should you hire ME as your coach?

I could answer with something simple like, “Because I’m good enough, smart enough, and doggone it, people like me.” Hmm, now that I mention it....

A) I've worked over five years as a coach, and I believe I've experienced plenty--from more clients than I can handle, to 6 completing at the same time (three in one day), to having only two. I'm happy to share my experience so that you may grow stronger from it.

2) I have over five years of training and experience in practically all of CTI's courses (Core Curriculum, The Business Development Course pilot, Certification, ORSC, Vision Story, Come Alive: The Artful Play of Coaching, Quest, and Leadership) and have assisted over 24 times. I know this material intimately
I’m also currently on the Board for the ICF Chicago Chapter as well as the facilitator for the CTI Chicago Metro Network and the CTI SKILLS telecall forum.

III) With an over 20 year experience as an actor, I've explored almost all the facets of following artistic passion. I know the value and beauty of connecting with others in such a way that they are affected for the rest of their life. I know what it's like to fail, again and again (in the public eye, no less), and I know the thrill of overcoming obstacles and succeeding. I know what it's like to take a risk, to put yourself out there, to dedicate yourself to mastering a craft with no guarantee of success. And I know how to create, design, and discover that success.

Ben provides the invaluable opportunity to work with a coach who helps me to understand my own unique experiences during certification as well as the commonalities that we all face. This has allowed me to relax into the program without becoming overwhelmed by self criticism. In other words, this has opened up a space in me to focus on the learning. - Kerri Y.
[Ben has] been a great model of co-active coaching for me throughout the process. Accountability and focus are also big benefits. [He also] pushed me to explore and use skills and principles that I wasn't really comfortable with. - Beth G.

what you get:

A) Weekly sessions consisting of 30 minutes of personal coaching

2) An additional 15 minutes of special “coach to coach” time each week to discuss skills, business, advice and other information. This is where you get to ask questions about what you'relearning. We can talk about things you're struggling (or celebrating) with your clients. And I can pass on to you my own knowledge and insights for you to adapt and implement as your own.

III) As a client, there are additional optional opportunities to enhance your coaching education, at no extra cost.

  • Reverse coach for feedback. This comes in really handy when preparing for your exam--including some time spent relieving any anxiety that may occur.
  • Certification Prep Calls to eliminate any anxiety and get you fully prepared for your exam.
  • Post-exam follow up call to either celebrate your passing or celebrate your failing, and get you refocused for next time.
  • To learn more about these feature, visit this link to "Certification Prep Calls."

These features are not designed to take the place of your Supervision calls or your Certification training, but rather to enhance them, so that you'll get more input and insight on how your coaching skills are improving and what still needs attention and steps to strengthening them so that... you guessed it, you grow and learn at an even accelerated rate, allowing you to become an even more powerful and confident coach.
